Johnna McArthur

Johnna was born into a large family in Brownwood, Texas. Since then she has lived all over the state of Texas, including Lubbock, where she graduated with honors from Coronado High School.

Prior to completing her academic education, Johnna enjoyed a successful career as a production editor in the publishing arena and as a manager in the marketing industry. The firms she was associated with held accounts with numerous entities, including IBM, Microsoft, the U.S. Department of Education, the Texas Student Loan Corporation, Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at El Paso, the Internal Revenue Service, City Universities of New York and State University of New York. In several jobs, she was personally responsible for major presentations and submissions to private business concerns and governmental entities. This background gives Johnna a unique viewpoint regarding trial work for our clients and advancing positions on their behalf.

After electing to continue her academic education, Johnna graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, where she also served as an officer of Alpha Phi Sigma, an academic honors organization. Because her study of the justice system sparked an interest in the law, Johnna decided on a legal career.

During a very successful stint at Baylor Law School, Johnna received numerous awards. She was a two time winner of the Dean’s Academic Excellence Scholarship, as well as receiving the Honorable James R. Hubbard Scholarship and the Dr. Marianna Brady Memorial Scholarship. In addition to her academic success, Johnna also completed an internship with The McLennan County District Attorney. As another reward for her law school efforts, Johnna was invited to become a member of the Judge Abner V. McCall American Inn of Court, an organization in which practicing attorneys actively mentored law students.

Johnna joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2004, after graduating from law school and successfully passing the Texas Bar Examination. She concentrates her practice in the areas of personal injury trial work, family law, and business litigation. Additionally, Johnna is an active member of State Bar of Texas, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Abilene Bar Association.

Johnna is married to Mac and has two stepsons, ages 22 and 16. Johnna and Mac enjoy many outdoor activities, including caring for their dozen quarter horses. Johnna also enjoys reading biography and history, cooking everything from Tex-Mex to Italian continental cuisine, and spending time with friends and family. Johnna’s parents live in Bangs and each of Johnna’s five siblings live within two hours of Abilene, so family get-togethers are common events. Community activities in which they have been involved include Meals on Wheels, Family Gateway, Habitat for Humanity, and Special Olympics.
